  • Original Voice: We are drawn to chapbooks that reveal a distinctive and authentic voice. Your chapbook should have a clear and original perspective that sets your work apart, contributing to the diverse and vibrant literary community.

Tips for Assembling Your Manuscript

  • Theme Consistency: While the contest theme is open, ensure there is a thematic consistency that ties your poems together. This can be achieved through shared emotions, settings, or narrative elements.

  • Narrative Flow: Consider the order of your poems to create a narrative flow. Whether it’s a chronological story or a thematic progression, an intentional arrangement enhances the reader’s experience.

  • Title Significance: Choose a meaningful and resonant title for your chapbook. It should offer a glimpse into the overarching theme that ties your collection together.

  • Revision and Polishing: Take the time to revise and polish each poem. Ensure they complement each other and contribute to the overall impact of your chapbook.

  • Font and Size: Use a standard, easily readable font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Garamond. Set font size to 12-point.

  • Poem Titles: Bold or italicize poem titles for emphasis.

  • Header/Footer: Include a header or footer with your name, the title of your manuscript, and page numbers.

  • Poem Format: For each poem, start on a new page. Follow a consistent style for stanza breaks and line breaks.

  • Contact Information: Include your contact information (name and email) on the title page or within the document.

  • File Format: Submit your manuscript in either PDF or Word document format.

  • Separate Cover Letter: Include a cover letter introducing yourself and providing a brief overview of your chapbook.
